SGMY’s Review Of The Populus Singapore

So, I finally made it to The Populus Cafe, and honestly, the food was pretty solid. I started with their Populus Scramble, and wow, the scrambled eggs were creamy and light, just the way I like them. The turkey bacon added a smoky bite, and the croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky – a really satisfying combo.

Next, I tried the Buckwheat Pancakes, and they were a dream. Soft, fluffy, and topped with berry compote and passion fruit curd. The sweetness wasn’t overwhelming, and the cornflake crumb added a nice crunch. It felt like a perfect balance of flavors.

Now, the Fish & Chips—this was a standout. The tempura halibut was crispy without being too oily, and the truffle tartare sauce? So good. It had this rich, earthy flavor that made every bite better.

I also tried the Wagyu Steak & Eggs. The steak was super tender and cooked just right, with the sunny-side eggs adding a nice touch. The homemade BBQ sauce had a nice smoky kick to it, which I really enjoyed.

However, not everything hit the mark for me. The Avocado Superfood Green Platter looked amazing, but I found the flavors a bit too mild. The dish felt a little under-seasoned, especially with the grains and greens. I think it needed something more to bring it all together.

But honestly, everything else was great. The Populus French Toast was another favorite—soft brioche, caramelized banana, and berries made for a really indulgent treat. I would definitely recommend it!
