SGMY’s Review Of Kok Sen Restaurant
Stepping into Kok Sen Restaurant feels like entering a beloved local food haven. As a true foodie, I couldn’t wait to dig into their renowned dishes. The ambiance is lively and bustling, setting the stage for a memorable meal.
I started with their Claypot Yong Tau Foo. The stuffed tofu and vegetables simmered in a rich broth were simply heartwarming. Next, I tried the Kai Lan Stir Fried with Roasted Pork. The kai lan was crisp, and the roasted pork was succulent, creating a delightful mix of textures and flavors.
The Golden Dragon Chicken was a standout. The chicken was tender with a crispy exterior, drizzled with a flavorful sauce that was simply mouthwatering. Pairing it with a cold Homemade Lemon Tea was perfect to balance the rich flavors.
The Bittergourd Black Bean Sauce with Fish Meat surprised me. The combination of bitter gourd and savory black bean sauce with tender fish was unique and satisfying. However, the Prawn Paste Chicken was a bit too greasy for my liking, though it had a good flavor.
Moving on to seafood, the Cereal Butter Prawns were divine. The large prawns coated in a crispy cereal butter mix were sweet and savory, making it an irresistible choice. For a classic touch, I had the Sweet & Sour Pork. The crispy pork pieces coated in a tangy and sweet sauce were an absolute delight.
To wash it all down, I had the Homemade Passion Fruit Tea, which was refreshing and complemented the rich dishes perfectly.
Despite the slight disappointment with the Prawn Paste Chicken, Kok Sen Restaurant delivers a fantastic dining experience. From their hearty dishes to their refreshing drinks, it’s a place I highly recommend for a taste of local Singaporean flavors.
