SGMY’s Review of ASU Singapore
If you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable dining experience in Singapore, ASU is the place to be. Their menu is packed with incredible flavors that will leave you coming back for more. One of my absolute favorites is the Sheng Yan Oyster. The freshness of the Japanese oysters, paired with Teochew soy dressing and ginger, is a refreshing start to any meal. I also love their Snow Crab Bao—the bao is so soft, and the filling of snow crab and scallops is a perfect balance of flavors.
The Bo Kak is another dish I highly recommend. The pickled mussels, chilled noodles, Thai basil, and daikon come together so well—it’s a refreshing combination that I enjoy every time. Moving to the mains, the Uni Kue is a standout. The poached Japanese grouper with sea urchin sauce is rich and indulgent, just what I need to satisfy my cravings for something special.
I can’t forget about the Hong Zhao Lamb. The lamb rack is perfectly spiced, and the red koji wine sauce gives it a deep, satisfying flavor. It’s a dish I can never get enough of. The Viet Spiced Quail also impressed me with its tender meat, and the pickled guava adds a surprising twist that makes it extra delicious.
Lastly, for dessert, I recommend Sweet Earth. The Buah Keluak ice cream with burdock and lotus root is refreshing and unique—perfect for rounding off a fantastic meal. However, I found the Hokigai Tofu-Mushi a bit bland compared to the other dishes. While the tofu and surf clam combination is interesting, the flavors didn’t stand out as much to me.
Overall, ASU offers an amazing culinary journey that’s definitely worth trying!
