SGMY’s Review of Nok Yung
Hey food lovers, if you’re craving Thai food in Malaysia, Nok Yung is a great place to visit. Let me share my recent dining experience with you.
Starting with the Homok Talay, a Thai seafood curry otak, it had a creamy texture and spicy flavor. The seafood mix was good, but it was a bit salty for me.
Next, the Som Tam Goong, a papaya salad with tiger prawn, was refreshing with a mix of spicy and sweet flavors. The prawns were fresh, but the salad could have been more flavorful.
For soups, the Tom Yum Goong was delicious with lemongrass and chili flavors. It had a good balance of sour and spicy, but I wished it was spicier.
Moving on to mains, the Phoo Nim Pad Pong Karee, yellow curry with soft-shell crab, was creamy and had lots of crab. However, the curry sauce could have been richer.
The Pla Kapong Deng, steamed red snapper with chili and lime sauce, was fresh and tangy. The fish was cooked well, but the sauce needed more flavor.
The Goong Yang Naam Jim, grilled tiger prawns, were juicy and went well with the spicy Thai sauce. Yet, the prawns could have been more tender.
Lastly, the Khai Jeow Poo, crispy omelet with crab meat, was simple and comforting. The omelet was crispy, but the crab filling was a bit bland.
Overall, Nok Yung offers authentic Thai food in a cozy setting. While some dishes didn’t have as much flavor as I hoped, it was still a nice dining experience. If you love Thai food and are in Malaysia, give Nok Yung a try!
