SGMY’s Review of Fifty Tales
Entering Fifty Tales Malaysia was like going on a tasty journey through the delicious Malaysian Chinese flavours.
I fell in love with their signature OG Style Noodles, which delivered a satisfying blend of pork lard-infused goodness with the crunch of pickled cucumbers, all topped off with a perfectly marinated egg.
The 50 Tales Nyonya Laksa transported me back to my grandmother’s kitchen with its rich coconut broth and tender grilled bok choy, a true homage to Nyonya cuisine.
As I explored the menu further, the Emerald Dragon noodles caught my eye, and I was pleasantly surprised by the burst of flavors from the spring onion pesto and braised preserved kai choi. However, the Minegar Noodles, with their bold black vinegar base, didn’t quite hit the mark for my taste buds.
For small plates, the Pork & Fish Dumplings were a delightful start to the meal, offering a tantalizing mix of pork and fish encased in delicate wrappers. I also tried the Braised Pork Ears, a unique and adventurous choice, though it might not suit everyone’s palate.
To end on a sweet note, I indulged in the decadent Kek Batik, a rich chocolate delight with sengkuang ganache that left me craving for more. And to wash it all down, their selection of Loose Leaf Teas and fizzy sodas provided the perfect accompaniment to the meal.
While the experience was overall delightful, I couldn’t help but notice that the menu lacked options for vegetarians and vegans, and some items seemed slightly overpriced compared to similar eateries. Nevertheless, Fifty Tales Malaysia remains a charming destination for those seeking a culinary journey through Malaysia’s diverse flavors.
