SGMY’s Review of Benihana Singapore
If you’re craving a taste of Japan right here in Singapore, Benihana is a solid choice! The variety on the menu is impressive, from fresh sushi rolls and hearty noodle dishes to teppanyaki grills and comforting soups.
I loved the Crazy Salmon Roll—the combination of fresh salmon, crunchy tempura, and creamy avocado with a hint of sweetness from the coco sauce was heavenly.
Another standout was the Grilled Gindara Saikyo. The black cod is tender, buttery, and melts in your mouth, while the miso glaze adds a subtle sweetness. It’s a must-try!
For noodle lovers, the Miso Stewed Beef Noodle has rich flavors with tender beef slices and hearty vegetables. The broth is deeply comforting, perfect for a rainy day. And their Signature Garlic Fried Rice is super fragrant, with that garlicky aroma and buttery taste that’s just so satisfying.
That said, I wasn’t too thrilled with the Kawa Ebi. The baby shrimps are crispy, but they felt a bit dry and lacked seasoning compared to the other dishes. They could have done with a bit more flavor to stand out.
But desserts here are a sweet ending. The Banana Fritter with vanilla ice cream is a delightful treat—the fritter is crispy on the outside and soft inside, while the Okinawa syrup adds a lovely caramelized sweetness.
Overall, Benihana delivers a fantastic spread of Japanese cuisine, and I would definitely come back for the sushi and grilled dishes. Just a small miss with the shrimp, but the rest of the menu makes up for it.
